The sad thing is here, Fluttershy is indeed just trying to not judge them for making their own choice to give up something. But Starlight Glimmer is of course, a well intentioned extremist with a Messiah complex who in reality DOESN'T take no for an answer, therefore terminating the entire argument that it was their choice. I know this is a little girls' cartoon, but I think it would have made an interesting debate on how much we're willing to give up to be part of our community.

Metalbroke's Nine Enchanted Items . . . I really hope that's just world building and not the new macguffin collection this season. :-(

The lousy thing is that this would have been a perfect chance to call back to Magic Mystery Cure, since that could have been used by someone as a argument for how Cutie Marks are a curse in disguise if they CONTROL YOU like that.

AJ's talent is being a southern? 0-o?

What's disturbing, is if Starlight was spared death in Applebloom's rewritten world . . . then the whole reason the monster Starlight Glimmer exists, a mare fixated on equality . . .

Ironically, while Glimmer's propaganda is blaring, you can hear "you're no better than your friends" which IS kinda the lesson they try to teach you in grade school right next to "do your best" (that always drove me nuts as a child).

Actually interesting, Fluttershy, the most kind hearted, having to betray friends for the "greater good" . . . Which ironically in this case, BOTH Twilight and Glimmer want her to do. (Glimmer to clean up any disruptions in her perfect harmony, Twilight so Fluttershy doesn't blow her cover). In other words, do something cruel for the sake of goodness.

Seeing THAT in a kid's cartoon I can actually admire.

Sigh. Did they have to make Glimmer a hypocrite? Did they NOT THINK the argument the mane six were putting for the virtues of individual identity and exceptionalism was good enough? Sigh. -_- The argument was good enough and interesting enough WITHOUT THAT!!!!

Debate and Switches are SOOO ANNOYING!

It would have been interesting if they had run into Trixie there, indoctrinated, saying how HER special talent done nothing but brought HER misery and those around her misery.

How would you argue against that?

Unlike Trixie, I don't see Glimmer the same when she ran. Why? Because Trixie was egotistical and a liar.

Glimmer? She's a ZEALOT. She sees herself as a WHITE KNIGHT against a force of evil. They don't even compare.  I hope the writers remember that difference.

I will say it's kinda weird how quick every last one of the ones abandons their beliefs, caring more about the messenger than the message.

A better question is what the heck happens to all those foals who have heard nothing but Starlight's point of view?

Very ironic that after all the powerful monsters the most disturbing villain is very much based on something we humans recognize in ourselves.

"You can't have a nightmare if you never dream."
