Pony IDW Comic Seige of Crystal Empire Pt 3 remark

Hope reveals you have to feel ANGRY to unlock the path to Sombra's lair. (Cadence is disturbed when she thinks how she didn't have headaches like Twilight did... which Hope says is a sign of HOLDING THE ANGER IN).

I know that they're going for the 'good on the outside, bad on the inside' bit with the Umbrum's true form being absolutely ghastly to look at but...

Well, okay, I KNOW this is a KID's COMIC, they have to keep things SIMPLE. But...  It just feels... cheap almost that Umbrum true forms are hideous to look at... I mean, the WHOLE IDEA was that they were sealed away because they were monsters (and their prison keeps them from aging, being they'll be trapped there forever).


The thing is... the Umbrum were willing to 'play house' with Hope for a thousand years! And it's clear nothing grew on them. Okay, they're sociopaths, I get that.

And Cadence asked who would lock up such adorable creatures before their true form is seen... didn't she says it was because they were evil?

IMHO, it would have been more in MLP style, if it turned out that the pixie shapes WERE their true form... and they were sociopathic monsters, showing that it's your actions that make you what you are.

And yeah, Chrysalis just takes her tribe and GOES ACROSS THE OCEAN to get away from the Umbrum who will be freed soon...

And she frees TWILIGHT, JUST SO she can know Twilight FAILED to stop them!

She also makes clear she doesn't give a damn about the shoved in baddies.

On another note, Sombra reveals he could have freed his tribe ANY TIME HE WANTED... but he was afraid ... because the sob story they fed Hope made him DOUBT HIMSELF... after all... Sombra's ENTIRE self justification is 'then let me be evil' ... if the rest of his race was 'misunderstood' then he'd be as evil and rejected among them as he was among the Crystal Ponies.

Then Twilight takes a blast at Sombra... Hope uses herself as a shield (still convinced that Sombra isn't like the rest of his kind) Sombra... seeing Hope fall before him.... Frees his tribe saying, "You want to fight monsters? I'll give you monsters!"

I honestly wonder how long Sombra is going to last among his kind having been tainted by their enemies.
